Views from Brushy Creek Trail – Tuesday Edition
Tuesday’s hike on the Brushy Creek Trail started like most of mine—no big expectations, just a chance to get outside, clear my head, and maybe snap a few photos. It was quiet. No crowds, no rush. Just a solid trail and some space to breathe.
The light was soft, filtered through the trees. I passed the usual scene: lizards walking across the trail, birds
calling through the trees. But then I heard something very loud up above.
I looked up and there it was—an owl, sitting in a tree just off the trail. Calm, still, and watching. I stopped in my tracks. We made eye contact for a few seconds. It blinked. I blinked. I got it on video.
Owls have that way of making everything else fade out. No noise, no motion—just that stare. I’ve done this trail a bunch of times, but that moment felt different.
After that, I kept walking. The trail winds past the creek and under some good tree cover. It’s a nice mix of open sky and shaded paths. Nothing too wild after that owl sighting,
Moral of the story? You never know what you’ll find on a regular weekday hike. Keep your eyes open.
